Divine Nature Additional Value Experience #2

Experience Description: Develop a pattern of obedience as you make a special effort to treat your parents with respect and kindness and do what your parents ask you to do without having to be reminded. After 2 weeks, record in your journal how being more obedient motivated you to want to continue doing so and how it has helped you understand your divine nature and the divine roles of mothers and fathers.

Journal Entry: It made me want to be more obedient so that we can have the spirit in our house. It's helped me understand how much my Heavenly Father loves and cares about me. Both mothers and fathers are asked to do so much for their children.

Knowledge Required Value Experience #1

Experience Description: Learn about the importance of gaining knowledge by reading the following scriptures...
Think about why you need to gain knowledge and understanding about how to apply gospel principles to your present and future home and family life. Write in your journal what you have learned about knowledge, and discuss it with a family member or young woman leader.
Journal Response: I learned that after we die and move on, all we will have is our knowledge. We need to have pure knowledge. We need to have a lot of knowledge that is good and pure so that we can be saved. In the next life, we will have only knowledge to rely on.

Individual Worth Additional Experience (#5)

Experience Description: Participate in a dance performance at school. How did your participation in this activity strengthen your feelings of individual worth and self confidence? Record your thoughts in your journal.

Journal Entry: On May 9th, 2012, I had the opportunity to participate in my school dance concert with my school dance class. This was a lot of fun. It helped me to feel good about myself. I felt like I had accomplished something big getting ready for this performance.

Divine Nature Project

I completed this project by participating in 6 weeks of my CTE class in school. During this time, we participated in focusing on the skills of cooking and sewing.
Sewing and Cooking: Sewing and cooking are 2 very good skills to learn to become a good homemaker. You need the skill cooking just in general. Cooking is something that you will need to be able to live on your own.
Sewing isn't something that you need to know, but no doubt it is something that is useful to know. It's great to know as you mend things. You can also even make things from scratch.
It is important for me as a future homemaker to learn how to establish a house of order. The skills of cooking & sewing allow me to know how to build a house of order because it is a skill I will need to take care of my future family. Heavenly Father wants us to have order in our house so that we can feel peace ad the spirit will be there.

Faith Project: Temple Walk

The Temple walk was my faith project. I really enjoyed the opportunity to do this. At first, I was not so excited to go. In fact, I really didn't want to go. As we walked, I started to have more and more fun. I met new people, and had friends to walk with.
When I got home I was thinking about it, and learned a very good lesson from all of this. I thought of it like life our lives. We are trying to get to our Heavenly Father. It might seem like an impossible task. You are going to want to stop a lot and ask for breaks from trying to get to where you want to be. But after you stop, it is really hard to start again. I thought this was cool, and a great thing for me to do for my faith project.

Good Works Value Project

My Project is: To make and sell "Families Are Forever" Blocks to help raise money for Colum's Family. For their story, please visit: www.kellypack.com
My plans to carry out this project:
1. Make Blcoks
2. Market Them
3. Sell Them
Raise Money for the family
In this project, I raised a lot of money for a family who was in a car accident, and lost their 18 month old son, Colum (pictured above).
It felt great to know that I was helping this family. I had the opportunity to meet this family. They were very happy with what we had done for them. It feel great to help other people.

Good Works Additional Value Experience #3

Value Experience Description: Spend at least 3 hours giving service outside of your family. Record the reactions of the person you served and possible goals for future service opportunities.
When I was baby sitting at the primary meeting it was nice to feel appreciated. Because all of the parents were very grateful that we were there to watch their children for them. I was very glad to help teach primary. I got to plan and teach a lesson to the sunbeams. It was very fun to see their faces light up as they all got to participate in the object lesson we had planned for them. Where they got to lead each other around the room and act like one another's eyes. I liked serving at the food bank that was very rewarding to know that the food we were packing up was going to people who do not have the means to get their own food. I think that serving others can give you a great feeling of satisfaction. I think that when we serve others we are blessed in many ways. I love serving and will take every opportunity to serve others. I love the great feeling that I get inside after I serve someone. It makes me feel happy inside to know that I helped that person in some aspect of their life. Whether it be big or small.

Divine Nature Required Value Experience #2

Project; As a young woman, you are blessed with divine feminine qualities. Increase your understanding of and appreciation for womanhood. Read Proverbs 31:10-31 and 2 talks on womanhood from a conference issue of the church magazines. Review what "The Family: A Proclamation To The World" says about being a wife and mother. Then ask your Mother, or another Mother you admire what she thinks are important attributes foor being a Mother. List the attributes in your journal. Then choose one (2) attributes, and strive to develop them. After 2 weeks, report your success to a parent or leader.

Talk #1: Forget Me Not Talk by Elder Uchtdorff
Elder Uchtdorf said that women have patience, and kindness. He said that we need to not waste our time trying to succeed at finding our golden ticket. If we do not waste our time doing this, we can be much happier.

Talk #2: A Mother Heart by Julie B Beck
1. Mothers are loving
2. Mothers teach their children about God
3. Mothers are faithful

Proverbs 31:10-31
It said many things, but one that really stod out to me was a Mother should be praised by her husband and children. Another that stood out was how when they talk their tongue is filled with kindness and joy.

The Family: A Proclamation To The World:
Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurturing of their children. They are also responsible as house keepers or even the ones who provide for the family.

List of important traits from my Mom:
1. Faith
2. Nurturing
3. Self Discipline
4. Self Confidence
5. Praying always

Traits that I will work on for 2 weeks beginning on 1-22-12:
1. Self discipline
I will do this by not watching TV before my homework is finished
I will also work harder at not getting frustrated with my sister
2. Praying Always
I will work at being more diligent about saying my night prayers
